Released in 1997, Heavy Soul is the fourth solo album from Paul Weller. A more rootsy than previous efforts, its stripped-down style bore a heavy British blues-rock influence, with the likes of Free, Spooky Tooth and Cat Stevens all shining through.  The album included the hit singles - Brushed, Friday Street, the jaunty '€˜60s-inspired Mermaids and the riotous, Jam-like Peacock Suit.
