Sam Fender, Benefits, Richard Dawson, Pit Pony, Knats... it's already been a hell of a year for music from the North East, and this week sees the mighty Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs join the party!

The Newcastle riff wizards' fifth album is just one of the standouts on another super release day, which also offers the hotly anticipated third record from revered experimentalists Black Country, New Road, a brand new collaboration from Elton John & Brandi Carlile, a Waterboys concept album inspired by the life and mythos of actor Dennis Hopper and a new solo effort from Holy Steady frontman Craig Finn, among many others.

Elsewhere, one of the most extraordinary breakthrough artists of recent years Ethel Cain, finally releases her beloved debut album Preachers' Daughter on vinyl, plus we have reissues of Tracy Chapman's classic eponymous album and shoegaze legends Slowdive's first three records.
