Released in 1998, Into the Electric Castle is the third studio album from Dutch progressive metal outfit Ayreon. A double-album lasting over 100 minutes, it tells a continuous story centring around eight archetypal characters from different historical eras, who suddenly find themselves in another dimension where they are subjects in an experiment being conducted by an alien race. This record features guest appearances by Anneke van Giersbergen (The Gentle Storm, The Gathering), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) and Fish (Marillion).
