Released in 1967, Nicola was the fifth studio album from Scottish folk musician Bert Jansch.

By the time the record was released the summer of love was upon us, with a backdrop of civil rights, the Vietnam war and revolution in the air. Jansh'€™s marvellous playing, as evidenced on every one of his recordings, was a perfect antidote to the real world, creating its own place. Out of step with the fashionable recordings and productions of the day, Nicola has, in fact, only bettered with age. Indeed, while its early reception was somewhat muted, critics have since come to acknowledge its florid arrangements as the prettiest on any of his albums.
