Veteran film composer Randy Newman did something completely different for The Meyerowitz Stories: he crafted a score utilizing only the piano. "€œAfter I saw the movie I wrote and recorded a little piece so that Noah [Baumbach, writer / director] could hear something that I thought might work for the picture,"€ Newman described. "€œHe liked it and he decided that solo piano would be an effective way to score his picture. I enjoyed working with Noah. In many ways it was the closest to collaboration I'€™ve ever had with a director and I liked it."€

The Meyerowitz Stories is the emotional and comic intergenerational tale of adult siblings (Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Elizabeth Marvel) contending with the long shadow their strong-willed father (Dustin Hoffman) has cast over their lives. With an original screenplay by Baumbach, the film also stars Emma Thompson, Grace Van Patten, Adam Driver, Candice Bergen, Judd Hirsch and Rebecca Miller.
